Part of the Shattered Worlds setting I dreamed up in 1978-79. There were several major dungeon complexes, but the gloves off and everything is legal dungeon was the Crystal Mountains. The concept was based on several different alternative world books I'd read, from Keith Laumers 'Worlds of the Imperium' through H. Beam Piper's 'Lord Kalvin' and others. The idea was a past intentional fracturing of the planes of reality and the resulting 'knot' of crystallized forces left behind. Highly ambitious and never fully executed, but we did have some fun times.
Found what I'm fairly sure is the first map. In the second the Great Troll Road appears - as in Keith Laumer inspired Bolo Mk. II/III units on patrol. Even the mega-gamers didn't want to try and mess with a 1/2 Megaton/sec of firepower. Yes, they were old and might not be fully working, but nobody was crazy enough to test it!
Much of the Crystal Mountains was executed on 'D' sized drafting paper. They're around somewhere and might get scanned, or at least a picture taken someday. I did find the binder with several of the smaller maps.
Level 1B
I had some fun with this level, the sliding room made for lots of confusion. Early map without area numbers in all rooms, I was winging it on descriptions in those days.
Level 1D
A page filling maze, good for driving players trying to map a bit crazy!
Level 2A
Just the place for a large swarm battle or three.
Level 2B - Halls of Death
Crypts and more crypts to be chased by undead in. Lots of great loot, but better bring spare clerics and lots of healing potions.
The Jetan Board
I'd read Burroughs and loved the idea of Arena combat. Jetan comes from the classic 'Chessmen of Mars' for those keeping notes. So there's a 'by invitation' arena combat area, with various powerful beings watching and betting. Not sure where my game notes for this went, but I had set piece games (battle your way across) and a couple of team games designed. Several characters took on the board over the years, several came away richer, a few died.
