Not perhaps the best planned core region, but for 1978/79 it was a pretty decent start. Between my original D&D white box and a host of additional sources I tried to keep ahead of my players and stretch my story telling skills.
I'm guessing this map was done about 1980 or 81 from the originals by eye. Kampar was built to be a crossroads from the beginning, with the Crystal Mountains less than a hundred miles away to the NW and lots of unexplored territory to West and South. Far to the East was the Human Empire, with lots of small kingdoms and Baronial fiefs. I made some attempt to have rivers that actually flowed, although they're way too big in reality.
Kampar itself is a fairly compact city, and had a small under-level. The Copper Dragon Inn was the big attraction in town. A consortium of players purchased it, and began fortifying it with captured magics and technology. Before long the City of Kampar grew a bit to the West, but was limited by the great caravan grounds. Eventually an entire new city was established a bit South, called New Kampar. An inventive lot the players were not.
The core of the Barony, as revised. This map is actually a copy, done on a light table from the master Barony maps. I'd used 4 D sized
I was fairly happy with the city maps, but most of the documentation and GM's notes are long-lost. I had a huge trade festival to the West of Kampar where yearly the wandering tribes and trade caravans met. It was fun to use as a game setting, lots of fun and off stuff to tease the players with.
The first major dungeon was located under the Plains of Khem, with masses of tombs and deeper areas with some lost technology. It had at least two 'D' sized sheets and several regular 'A' sized page maps. I think those may still exist, but one is badly stained with a Coke spill to my recollection. Pictures may happen some day.
