The Dakalla Campaign design started with a world map, and stepped down in various areas to adventure maps. The Needle has it's own sub-map(s).
This was the immediate area around the Needle, shown to players who could fly. There's a GM's overlay for locations of side entrances and odd areas. The entry trail at the bottom right led down a ravine and widened into a track leading to the city of Smithsford.
Adding to the fun in The Needle was the chance to disturb old spore pockets and catch a terrible plague, the Red Death. Infected groups were to retreat to the Bell Shrine and ring the bell for assistance.
A sadistic GM could make the 'help' an area spore kill spell designed to take out the Red Death, or perhaps everything in a radius of the Bell, or even summon actual clerics...
This is a working sketch of the Bell Shrine, may get upgraded to a full map someday.
